When it comes to porcelain and ceramic tiles, they are considered “large format” when any one edge is greater than 16”.

Due to new development in technology these large format tiles slowly grew into a gauged category with measurements as large as 48”x48” and 48”x96”.

With the increased strength of these gauged porcelains, interior architects and designers have started to eagerly use them as a solution not only for commercial spaces, but also in residential housing. The effect obtained thanks to these mega-formats is breathtaking.

One of our collections of large format tiles is Marmo d’Oro belonging to the Monolith series.

When creating this large format tile collection, the designer referred to the Japanese technique of kintsugi – the art of repairing ceramics by reconnecting its broken pieces with powdered gold or other precious metals. As a result, the tiles from the Marmo d’Oro collection imitate white marble with gold and gray veins resembling gold and lacquer. Such patterns lend themselves well to traditional, modern and luxe arrangements, both on floors and walls.
The tiles from the Marmo d’Oro collection are rectified and available in five formats, from 24”x24”, 32”x32” and 24”x48”, to mega-format tiles 48”x48” and 48”x96”, where the unique movement and patterns are best displayed.

Large-format tiles have now become a commodity – they can be used in many unique and non-traditional ways.

Thanks to the possibility of hi-definition glaze methods, the graphics replicate the true depth of stone and other natural materials on the surface of these tiles and have become a very attractive element in interior design.
Traditional areas of application for large-format tiles are floors and walls. Each year we see the market show great interest in expanding practical use of these products to kitchen backsplashes, bedroom feature walls, living rooms, corridors, furniture, doors and even custom cabinetry.
